Dino R. Roseto, 91, of Ash St., Ridgway, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Pinecrest Nursing Home following a brief illness with his family at his side.
He was born on February 2, 1933, in Ridgway, the son of the late Prospero and Vincenza Curato Roseto.
On May 25, 1957, he married the late Carol Foster, who preceded him in death on February 20, 1986.
Dino was a lifelong resident of Ridgway and a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. He graduated from Ridgway High School, class of 1951, and was drafted in the U.S Army in 1953 and served in the Korean War. Dino was employed by Speer Carbon in St. Marys, retiring after 48 years of service. He was a dedicated employee as he hitched hiked to work every day for one year, until he saved enough money to purchase a car.
Dino was a great cook, he enjoyed having company and cooking delicious Italian meals for all who visited. His legendary Christmas Eve dinners provided enough food for half of Ridgway.
Dino loved his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many. He was proud to come from a large Italian family of 13 children. He enjoyed telling his kids and many friends stories of growing up with so many siblings and living on North Broad, or what he referred to as “Eagle Valley”.
He is survived by one son, Joseph Roseto and his wife Lynne of Ridgway, 2 grandchildren: Michael Roseto and his wife Kiersten of Cape May, NJ, and Taylor Alexandra Roseto and her fiancé Christopher of Holly Springs, N.C. and 2 great grandchildren, Crew Michael and Ty Joseph Roseto. He is also survived by siblings: Gloria Hoffman of Ridgway, Arcelia Heiberger of St. Marys, Louis Roseto of Florida, and Rudolpho Roseto of Washington, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded by his only daughter, Pamela J. Roseto, 6 sisters: Betty Zuroski, Blanche Carnovale, Florence Blashock, Rose Costion, Nardina Piccari, Jane Corey, and 2 brothers, Bennie and Pasquale Roseto.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Leo Magnus Catholic Church, 111 Depot Street, Ridgway, PA 15853, with Fr. Justin Pino officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Leo Cemetery.
Military Honors will accorded by the Ridgway, Johnsonburg, and Wilcox Burial Detail
Family and friends will be received at St. Leo Church from 10:30 AM until the time of service.
