Francis "Fritz" Nearing

Francis "Fritz" Nearing, 81, of Ridgway, died on Saturday, September, 23, 2023, at his residence following a brief illness.

He was born on August 2, 1942, in Ridgway, a son of the late Ira Lee and Grace O'Kneski Nearing.

On November 12, 1960, he married Margaret D. Wonderly who survives.

Fritz was a lifelong resident of Ridgway and graduate of Ridgway Area High School. He worked as a machinist at Keystone Poweder Metals, retiring after 43 years of service. Fritz liked to hunt, wood working, and spending time with family.

In addition to his wife of nearly 63 years, he is survived by 3 sons; Gregory Nearing of Duncansville, Jeffrey Nearing and his wife Sandy of Ridgway, and Paul Nearing and his wife Stephanie of Arizona, 3 grandchildren; Jessica, Gabi, and Caleb, and 4 great grandchildren; Carson, Paxton, Stephen, and Hayden. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Shirley Sennett and Joanne Rossey, and a brother, Neil Nearing and his wife Barb.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughters, Marcy and Francine Nearing, 4 sisters; Donna Brinklay, Margaret Wilson, Nancy Nearing, and Jeanne Nearing, and 3 brothers; Bob, John and Dale Nearing.

Funeral Services for Francis "Fritz" Nearing will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
