Hallie L. Lewis Jr.

Hallie L. Lewis, Jr., 70, of Monterey Avenue, Ridgway, Pa died on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Penn Highlands Elk following a lengthy illness

He was born on October 8, 1951, in St. Marys, PA, a son of the late Hallie L. Lewis, Sr. and Jane Hall Lewis.

On April 22, 1978, he married Mary Ann Vantassel, who survives.  Together they were blessed with more than 44 years of marriage.

Hallie was a lifelong resident of the area and graduate of Johnsonburg High School.  He retired from Pure Carbon Company in 2017 after more than 45 years of service.  An avid outdoorsman, Hallie loved spending time hunting and fishing.  Always an animal lover, he especially enjoyed his dogs.  A hardworking and kind man, Hallie cherished his family and grandchildren above all else.

In addition to his wife of more than 44 years, Mary Ann Vantassel Lewis, he is survived by two children; Michelle Freeburg and her husband Jeremy and, Gregory Lewis, both of Ridgway and bv a step-daughter; Erma Vantassel of Indiana,and 8 grandchildren.  He is also survived by two siblings; Lamonte (Jean) Lewis of St. Marys, and Katherine Tucker of Johnsonburg, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister; Sandra Schill and by his step-mother; Ruth M. Lewis.

Funeral Services for Hallie L. Lewis, Jr., will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Krise Funeral Home with Rev. Erik Hart officiating.

Visitation will be at the Krise Funeral Home on Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, and Monday, August 1, 2022 from 10:00AM until time of service.
