James J. "Jim" Schutz

James J. “Jim” Schutz, Sr., 75, of Grant Road, Ridgway, died on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Jefferson Manor Nursing Home.

He was born on March 1, 1948, in St. Marys, a son of the late James G. and Marie Donachy Schutz.

Jim was a lifelong member of the area and graduate of St. Marys High School class of 1967. He served in the U.S Marines during the Vietnam War. Jim enjoyed his time gardening, hunting, and fishing.

Jim is survived by his companion of more than 20 years, Jeannie Renaud, 2 daughter, Wendy (William) Pritt Wheeler and Nicole (Jim) Merat, a son, James (Stephanie) Schutz Jr., multiple grandchildren, and great grandchildren, 2 stepdaughters, Amy Jennings and Marcia Bennett. He is also survived by a sister, Karen (Mark) DeMario, 2 brothers, Bob (Mary Jo) Schutz and David (Sandra) Schutz, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Linda Grasser.

A Mass of Christian Burial for James J. Schutz will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Marys Church, 315 Church Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 wit Fr. Thomas More Sikora, OSB, as Celebrant.

Military honors will be accorded by Ridgway, Johnsonburg, Wilcox Burial detail.

Family and friends will be received at the St. Marys Church on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 10:30 AM until the time of service.

Burial will follow at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to a local veterans charity.
