Mary M. Beals Mitchell

Mary M. Beals Mitchell, 83, formerly of Johnsonburg and Lynn, Massachusetts, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Pinecrest Manor in St. Marys,

Born on January 21, 1938 in Saugus, MA, she was the daughter of the late Patsy and Harriet Roney Degeis.

Mary was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Mary’s Church in Lynn, MA. She was a longtime healthcare aide, and enjoyed the work she did for many years as a dedicated and compassionate caregiver. In her free time, she loved going to church, reading, and crocheting. In her younger years, she greatly enjoyed music and dancing. A caring, and loving mother and grandmother, she loved nothing more than being there for her family. She will be fondly remembered for her kind and giving heart, always welcoming the neighborhood kids to her home. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by seven children; Charles Beals of Virginia, Joyce Hitaj and her husband John of St. Marys, Brian Beals and his wife Wendy of NH, David Beals and his wife Kelly of MA, Joy Metz and her husband Carlof NH, William Mitchell of Ridgway, and Marlene Penfield and her husband Patrick of Johnsonburg and by 17 grandchildren; May, Sherri, Mustafa, Danielle, Sheila, Nicholas, Jamie, Tara, Alyssa, Jessica, Dawn, Linda Joy, Nathan, Kelson, Gina, Amanda, and Amber. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Beals, her second husband, John Mitchell, by two daughters; Bonnie Sue Mitchell and Shirley Jo Mitchell, and by three siblings; Sonny Degeis, Minnie Nichols, and Clara Landers.

Visitation and Funeral Services were held today with the family.
