Richard J. Olszewski

Richard J. Olszewski, 81, of Ridgway, died on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Pinecrest Nursing Home after a brief illness.

He was born on December 27, 1941, a son of the late Costek “Babe” and Mildred Siefert Olszewski.

On November 28, 1964, he married Marie Stenta, who survives.

Richard was a lifelong member of the community and a member of St. Leo Magnus Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending time hunting, gardening, and teaching his kids how to enjoy the outdoors.  Richard was a talented artist, taxidermist, and cook. He was a kindhearted family man who always took time to be there for his children and grandkids. He had a special place in his heart for his animals, his love for animals is truly inspiring.

In addition to his wife of nearly 59 years, he is survived by 3 children: Mark Olszewski and his wife Traci of New Bloomfield, PA, Michelle Gerber and her husband Troy of Ridgway, and Lori Wolfe and her husband Kyle of Schnecksville, PA, and 8 grandchildren: Ryan, Marisa, Nolan, Alec, Sophia, Makenzie, Skylar, and Brody. He is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth Olszewski of Johnsonburg, and a brother, Donald Olszewski and his wife Rita of Penfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Connie Beaver and Diane Asti.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard J. Olszewski will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Leo Magnus Church, 111 Depot Street, Ridgway, PA, 15853, with Fr. Kevin Holland officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Leos Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received at St. Leo Church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
