Richard J. Uhl Sr., 83, of Kersey, died on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Penn Highlands Dubois after a brief illness.
He was born on December 19, 1940, in St. Marys, the son of the late Alfred and Marie Feldbauer Uhl.
On November 28, 1959, at St. Boniface Church, he married Helen Smith, who survives.
Richard was a lifelong resident of Kersey and a member of St. Boniface Church. Richard had a successful career, working at St. Marys Carbon, Keystone, Michigan Sintered Metals, and eventually retiring from Metafusion. Additionally, he played a pivotal role in the establishment of GKN. His passion for hunting and fishing brought him joy and relaxation throughout his life. Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all.
In addition to his wife of nearly 65 years, he is survived by a son, Rj Uhl of Kersey, a daughter Robin L. Krystek of Butler, 5 grandchildren: Jonathan, Josh, Jarret, Abby, Breanna, 7 great grandchildren, and a daughter in law, Tanya Uhl-Bauer. He is also survived by 2 brothers: Bill Uhl of Kersey, and John Uhl and his wife Gloria of Brockport, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Krystek, and 3 sisters: Doloris Gregory, Betty Rizzo, and Eileen Brigger.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard J. Uhl will be celebrated on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Boniface Church, 355 Main Street, Kersey, PA 15846, with Fr. Kevin Holland officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
Visitation will be held privately by the family.
